This year our students are teaming up to make Christmas a little brighter for 3 single parent families in Fort St. John.  The ELC is sponsoring 3 families through the Women’s Resource Center.  These families will need all the fixings for a good quality Christmas dinner,

Pride vs Percent

We’ve all encountered that student. You know the one. The one who coasts by, all through K-12, getting mediocre C’s, the occasional C+ or B? We know they have great potential, we know they are capable of achieving the A’s. 

The Power of Displaying Student Work!

According to many educators, “Project-based learning’ refers to students designing, planning, and carrying out an extended project that produces a publicly-exhibited output such as a product, publication, or presentation.”
The unique characteristic feature of PBL is the publicly exhibited product.

Disguising Education

What is the best way to engage someone to learn?  My answer is passion – it may not be your answer but for me it works. When you become immersed in learning, where everything around you has been blocked out and all you can do is focus on the task – you are engaged with passion.

Halloween

The ELC was full of little ghosts and goblins on Halloween!
Community classes were assigned a Halloween theme and decorated their classrooms accordingly. We opened up our ‘Haunted Mansion’ to the public which turned into a greater success than we could have imagined,

Empowering Student Leaders

Imagine yourself in a school with 160 unsupervised teenagers, who are expected to stay in their rooms and work on a project. What do you see? Now picture this lasting two hours. Does the word “chaos” describe your image?

The Struggles of Educational Change

I would consider the Energetic Learning Campus a catalyst of change for education but it has not been easy to convince our community. No matter how much I try to explain what we do, it always seems inadequate.

The first day of school is September 4th from 8:40am to 11:00am.  After September 4th regular school hours at the ELC are 8:40am to 3:00pm.
