Choir 10
As Rasheed Ogunlaru wisely said, ‘It does not need to be perfect – or technically correct – to be magic.’ In this choir class, we will discover the magic of singing and storytelling through music. Together, we will explore how songs and stories have been expressed across various genres and musical styles. Students will have the opportunity to develop their own unique voices, celebrating both their strengths and growth areas in a supportive environment. Through singing as a whole ensemble, in small groups, duets, and solos, we will create connections, build confidence, and experience the joy of making music together. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or trying choir for the first time, this class is a space to grow, experiment, and share the magic of music with others. 2 credits
Movement and Mind 10
This course focuses on developing students’ knowledge base surrounding functional movement, physical fitness, mental fitness and developing positive relationships. The importance of keeping the body and mind fit is paramount to being successful in today’s world. In this course, students will learn to execute multiple exercises that train the functional movements: the squat, hinge, lunge, press, pull and carry. Students will also learn how to design conditioning routines that train these movements. Mental fitness, like physical fitness, can also be trained. This course will help students define mental fitness and ways to train the mind daily, like they do their physical fitness. Finally, relationship building is a requirement not only in the workforce but also in everyday social interactions. Having positive relationships will allow individuals to lead a happy lifestyle. It will also help build self-esteem and confidence to deal with negative relationships. Finally, this course helps students battle through their comfort zone. We don’t take any days off. Every day is a workday. Take the challenge. 2 credits
