I’ve only had a sneak peek of a few of the students presentations so far, but I came across this one small piece of a students POL and just had to share it!
‘The mask project, we did at the beginning of the year. We got to make a plaster mold of our face, let it dry and then be creative. The teachers gave us the sheet on what they wanted on it, and let us be creative to make the mask look as original as we could. A mask that would describe you, and show who you are as a person. My mask had my favourite quote, colours that I liked, things on it that had something to do with my life: an example of this would be that it had the University of Winnipeg symbol on it, that has been the university that I have wanted to go to since I was 8 years old.
I think if I was to do this project again, it would look much different. Because this school is so new and different, when we got this project we did what we thought the teachers wanted to see. What they really wanted to see was for us to make it our own. I think if I were to make another mask right now it would have more detail on it, more stuff to explain me on it. Stuff that could explain me more as a person, little details that nobody but me would understand because it would be more in depth.
My mask would look different now then it did then because I have grown as a person. I have learned that at this school the teachers want to see what we can do on our own not what they want. I learned many useful skills here, I learned how to use my imagination to make my project or assignment really creative. These are the reasons why my mask would look different now.
This is an inspiration to all 21st Century Learners and Educators!
