The school district is looking for students whose families would welcome hosting a high school student from Japan in their homes, from Monday, October 16 to Wednesday, October 25. During the school day, students will be attending classes.
Families will be compensated $25 for each day.
Home stay requirements are that the student must have their own private bedroom. The bedroom must have a fire escapable window (that opens) that must be at least 2 feet by 2 feet in dimension. The student is to be provided three meals a day, and perhaps most importantly of all, be lovingly and kindly welcomed and included in typical, everyday family life.
This is a unique learning opportunity to learn more about another culture and to help teach a young person from the other side of the globe about what daily life in Fort St John is like.
Interested parties are asked to contact Jodi Hickey (jhickey@prn.bc.ca) or Carleen Andrews (candrews@prn.bc.ca) for a home stay family application package. Criminal record checks will be part of the process. Either contact person can be reached at 250-785-4429
